DMV Hearings in Los Angeles

Most importantly, be aware that in Los Angeles, a good lawyer, under the right circumstances, can win the DMV hearing. Many times there are nuances which will allow the lawyer to cause the case to be reviewed and ultimately result in his winning the DMV hearing for you. Perhaps, for instance, the police paperwork is not in complete order. This can result in you winning the DMV hearing.

Also important is the fact that a person charged with a DUI must notify and request a hearing with the DMV within 10 days of their arrest date. You may have to put your request in writing by fax or letter. Calling the DMV within 10 days will give you the opportunity to receive a hearing date. It may be better or also necessary to request the hearing date in writing and deliver the request to the DMV by fax or mail. Your lawyer can assist you with this process. Call the local DMV for information.

If the DMV suspends your license it will be for 4 months for a first time DUI. Your lawyer may be able to get you a restricted license for school, work, or other hardship. Again, having a good lawyer handle your case is to your great benefit.
