Cole Casey is a highly respected DUI trial lawyer based in San Diego, California, whose practice is limited to the defense of persons accused of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, having decided early on that he wanted to spend his career as a trial lawyer.
Accordingly, in law school, Mr. Casey was captain of both the Moot Court Team and the Mock Trial Team. After graduation and admission to the bar, he took an associate position with a large insurance defense firm in San Diego. However, frustrated with the lack of courtroom time and the prospect of rarely ever getting to actually try cases, Mr. Casey went into private practice after just one year of being an attorney and immediately launched his career as a trial lawyer.
His first three trials were a 0.19 percent DUI (hung jury), a breaking and entering/sexual assault (not guilty) and first-degree murder (not guilty). Thereafter, Mr. Casey dedicated his practice to defending DUI cases and endeavored to learn ever as much as possible about defending these very difficult and specialized cases.
He is a graduate of five National College of DUI Defense programs and was recently named a sustaining member and the California state delegate to that organization. He is also a specialist member of the California DUI Lawyers Association and a founder of San Diego DUI Defense Associates.
Mr. Casey is certified as both a practitioner and as instructor in the administration of standardized field sobriety tests under National Highway Traffic Safety Administration guidelines and is frequently asked to speak to attorneys as well as law enforcement agencies on that topic. His clients have included athletes, celebrities, CEOs of Fortune 100 companies and law enforcement officers, including officers from the California Highway Patrol. Mr. Casey attempts to try at least 20 DUI cases per year.
